Some of the actions of the Obama administration reminded me of Orwell’s ‘1984‘ –a book I was forced to read long ago in high school. As I remember, the authorities in the book changed the meanings and usage of certain words in order to support their agenda and on-going propaganda. Words like ‘bad’ were outlawed and replaced by ‘not-good’–the new way of speaking was called: ‘Newspeak’.

I just wrote about how the Obama administration ended the ‘War on Terror’ and replaced it with: "Overseas Contingency Operation".

It reminded me that in March, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said that in the future the administration was going to refer to ‘acts of terror’ as:  "Man-caused Disasters".

Shades of ‘1984′ for sure! My question is this–lot’s of different stuff can be called ‘Man-caused Disasters’—accidental fires, traffic accidents, plane crashes, etc. Now ‘acts of terror’ are no different?

The new ‘Homeland Security Department’ was created to address the threat of ‘terror’. Since it has been re-defined out of existence maybe we can eliminate the whole department and let Secretary Napolitano go and save $Billions?
