While the American Obama mainstream media gave him kudos for his performance at the G20 in Europe, the European leaders and press have a different take on the new American president. Obamamania seems to be already dead in Europe–several UK papers have reportedly made fun of his choice of the new White House ‘mutt’.

French President Sarkozy has even been quoted as making fun of Obama on a couple of occasions–here’s one where he quips to the French press that he’s going to ask Obama on his next trip to ‘walk on water’–across the channel.

Quoted in the French newspaper L’Express:

The French President, who will host his U.S. counterpart on the beaches of Normandy on 6 June for the 65th anniversary of the Normandy Landing, is ironical about "obamania": "I will ask him to walk on the Channel, and he will…"
