Obama early on declared that he was going to shut down Guantanamo and send the terrorist prisoners stateside.

Now the Democratic dominated Senate on Tuesday denied funding to the administration for closing the Guantanamo detention facility and barred any transferring of prisoners to U.S. soil. A similar measure passed in the House last week.

This leaves Pres. Obama hanging with no funds to carry out his Gitmo shutdown promise.

ODS Expositor: Sounds to me like the Democrats are already eying the 2010 mid-term elections and hoping not to alienate the electorate. This is the ultimate NIMBY issue—no one wants terrorists in a prison anywhere near them.
