The clock is running out for the senate to approve a new US-Russian arms treaty before the previous Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty expires in December. A senior White House official indicated on Sunday that the Obama administration might bypass the Senate and enforce ‘certain aspects of a new deal’ anyway.

Of coarse, this just another situation where Prez Obama plans to ignore and exceed his constitutional powers. It is the duty of the Senate to confirm and ratify all treaties—according to Article II, Section 2 of the US Constitution:

He shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur;

Obama now has a Democrat supermajority in the Senate but not everyone is thrilled with the treaty. Oh well—trash the Constitution instead!
