These guys want to remodel your home!

Here’s a dirty little secret from the 1,200 or so pages that Congress didn’t read before they passed the so-called ‘Cap and trade’ bill. Provisions within the bill call for buildings and houses to be inspected by the state for conformity to the new energy-efficiency standards every time a property is sold or changes ownership.

Energy efficient retrofits could eventually be required by your state for your own house. Federal funding is tied by the bill to the percentage of houses and buildings in the state that comply to the new standards. Though the bill does not specify particular fines it leaves it to your state to determine how houses and buildings will be brought up to the new standards.

In other words, if your state wants federal money expect your state to require homes and buildings to be brought up to the new energy efficient codes at the time of sale.

Something to look forward too if this bill passes the Senate! Now is the time to contact your senators and let them know how you feel before it is too late.
