Pres. Obama is in a hurry to get as much of his radical agenda passed by Congress while his poll numbers are still high and before the opposition can gather their troops so to speak. Meanwhile, huge changes in the economy and in business policies are largely going unnoticed by the public. However the one issue that could finally bring his big push to a halt is the health care bill. Largely because health care policy changes include and effect everybody.

Pres. Obama and his Congressional buddies are trying to push their national health care bill through before the American public has a chance to really evaluate and understand the new program and before all of the facts are out in the open.

Everywhere Obama goes he is telling everyone who will listen that if they like their present health care insurance than they can keep it. He says that he is only going to provide a ‘public alternative’ in order is decrease costs, keep the health care providers honest, and provide for those who don’t have any.

He is totally dishonest in his claims that it will not affect your health care or your choices. Once ‘the public option’ is available, you can count on the fact that nearly all of the businesses will drop their health care benefits and you will eventually be forced into accepting the so-called ‘public option’—that is unless you personally want to pay for all of your health care yourself.

One key to understanding how this is going to go is the recent ruling by the administration to tax your health care benefits. The incentives for businesses to offer health care insurance to employees is being discontinued by the Obama administration—in fact the new tax incentives for businesses will make it nearly certain that eventually businesses will drop their current benefits and workers will be forced to accept the government run ‘public option’ of Obamacare.

The dirty little secret is that the ‘public option’ will eventually replace all of the alternatives and end up as nationalized health care similar to Canada or the UK—Obama’s original goal all along. How will this happen? Through taxation and regulation of all of the current health care alternatives.

Now is the time to call your Congressional representatives and senators—ask for the details of the health plan to be made public, evaluated, and totally vetted before it is too late. Ask them to slow down until the ramifications of the new program can be entirely aired and evaluated. Also, ask them how they intend on $ paying for the new multi-trillion dollar program.

With General Motors’ long-awaited "pre-packaged bankruptcy" finally here, America is on the verge of a new era — one where government, not investors and consumers, is the final arbiter of success.

GM’s bankruptcy pushes bondholders aside in favor of the U.S. government and the UAW. Though bondholders hold $27 billion in debt, they’ll get just 10% of stock.

…  So the government, with roughly two times what private bondholders have on the table, gets a stake five times bigger. And the union, with about a third as much "invested," gets a 70% bigger stake. Even the Canadian government, with its $9.5 billion "invested," ends up with 12%.

They call it "restructuring." We call it theft. Never in our memory has there been a more thorough, systematic effort to disenfranchise the shareholders and bondholders of a major American firm.

It will make investors — domestic and foreign alike — think twice about investing in an American stock or bond in the coming years. Why invest if your money and rights as an investor can be arbitrarily stripped from you, as they were in GM’s case?

Finally, 36 members of Congress have contacted the White House with objections of the Obama take-over of the auto industry.

The Representatives are particularly unhappy over Chrysler closing down 789 dealerships in 49 states and eight manufacturing plants and with plans for Gm to shut down 16 factories and 1,100 dealers. Tens of thousands would lose their jobs and every state and nearly every congressional district across the whole country would be affected in some way.

They are asking Pres. Obama to slow down his ‘auto task force’ and take a ‘time-out’ to plan things through.

Here’s an article by Thomas Sowell: "Empathy" Versus Law: Part III

Sowell points out that Pres. Obama in comments about choosing a new Supreme Court justice said that he was going to appoint a judge that had “empathy” for various groups of people in decisions before the court. The Constitution calls for decisions based upon law—blind justice that does not consider those involved in the case—rich, poor, black, white, men and woman—all supposed to be equal under the law. Not so for Obama—he wants the courts to be an equalizer—to have “empathy” and render decisions based upon it instead of the law.

Here’s a quote from the article:

Barack Obama’s vision of America is one in which a President of the United States can fire the head of General Motors, tell banks how to bank, control the medical system and take charge of all sorts of other activities for which neither he nor other politicians have any expertise or experience.

The Constitution of the United States gives no president, nor the entire federal government, the authority to do such things. But spending trillions of dollars to bail out all sorts of companies buys the power to tell them how to operate.

Appointing judges to the federal courts– including the Supreme Court– who believe in expanding the powers of the federal government to make arbitrary decisions, choosing who will be winners and losers in the economy and in the society, is perfectly consistent with a vision of the world where self-confident and self-righteous elites rule according to their own notions, instead of merely governing under the restraints of the Constitution.

Already Obama as President has assumed powers and made decisions that are not given to him by the Constitution. He is probably going to end up being the most ‘lawless’ president that the USA has ever had.

Insightful article by American Thinker:  “The Politicization of the Auto Industry”

According to the article the American automotive industry will not be nationalized under the Obama administration; it will be politicized. The Obama administration along with the UAW will end up running Chrysler and GM together.

In the past, President Obama said that he wanted to remake the auto industry, and now he will have everything he needs in place to do it.

Meanwhile, Whether it is nationalization or really ‘politicization’ the results are the same for the investors who stand to lose $Billions and there is really no plan in place to repay the government—it’s all about control! The UAW is a major supporter of the Democratic Party and is inline to receive a major piece of the pie while investors are left to pound sand.

Normally, a failing business would be re-structured by a bankruptcy judge who would protect the benefits and rights of employees while fairly dividing equity in the new company’s remaining assets between the remaining creditors. Obama on the other hand tried a back-door nationalization giving a 55% controlling interest to his union friends–the UAW– and basically told creditors to pound sand.

The major banks shank away and surrendered their claims when Obama pointed out that the government now ‘owned’ them through all the bailout money they had received. Only the Hedge fund managers remained and the President threatened to ruin them if they didn’t comply and accept pennies on the dollar for their clients.

The word on Wall Street is that major business folks are actually afraid of their own government (via Obama) for the first time.

First of all the administration is touting the addition of Fiat to the Chrysler Corp as a positive because of Fiat’s supposed “world-class engineering”? I guess if you want to make cheap little tin cars that fall apart in a couple of years—has anyone out there ever had a Fiat? Obviously not anyone in the Obama camp. I had a friend once who did—we always went somewhere in my car—a Ford. They are among the lowest rated in reliability.

Secondly, 55% and controlling interest is going to the UAW that drove the car co. off the cliff in the first place.

Thirdly, The UAW is dominated by Retirees who are more interested in keeping their retirement benefits in-tack and coming.

Fourth, The Government of Canada is going to have a 2% say in the works?

Fifth, The Obama Administration is maintaining a rather ‘Green-oriented’ interest.

Bottom-line: With all those folks involved it is highly doubtful that anything will be made that anyone will want to buy. That is the bottom-line of the car business—they must sell cars! This is not like communist Russia and East Europe of the old days who made only one crummy car for everyone, we do still have choices!

Recently the Obama treasury Department has refused to receive repayment of TARP funds from banks trying to give the money back. Instead, Geithner is asking for the debt to be converted into common equity which would give the Obama administration greater actual control over the largest US banks.

There doesn’t seem to be an end in sight for the banking crisis and the Obama administration has seemingly made it a priority to control the whole industry for better or worse.

The banking industry looks upon this attempt as a ‘backdoor nationalization’ of the banking industry. The stock market declined rapidly on Monday in response to the possibility of greater government control.

According to a Wall Street Journal Opinion piece:

A backdoor nationalization also creates more uncertainty, not less, by offering the specter of an even lengthier period of federal control over the banking system. And it creates the fear of even more intrusive government influence over bank lending and the allocation of capital. These fears have only been enhanced by the refusal of Treasury to let more banks repay their Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) money.

As it stands, banks and their owners at least know how much they owe Uncle Sam, and those preferred shares represent a distinct and separate tier of bank capital. Once the government is mixed in with the rest of the equity holders, the value of its investments — and the cost to the banks of buying out the Treasury — will fluctuate by the day.
